Simple Roots, Winning Concept

The GLC Series for Ford powered formula cars known in SCCA as Formula Continental (FC) and Club Formula Continental (CFC) was conceived in the summer of 2005.
Canadian CFC racer Jim Roberts was leading the SCCA’s Great Lakes Division (GLD) regional points for his class (CFC) over Steve Myers from Michigan. When questioned, Jim responded that he had never met Steve, even though it was half way through the 2005 season. Also, the turn-out at many of the events were not very good. While Jim might participate at one particular event, Steve had done one other, both getting season points without directly competing against each other.
Jim reasoned that contacting Steve and others in both classes to coordinate schedules would guarantee him someone to race against!

With this simple idea, the GLC Series began in 2006 - a formula producing close racing, and improving the racecraft of those involved.  This philosophy of close camaraderie off-track and fierce competition on-track continues to this day.
